About
How we work
We take a practical approach to a wide range of acoustic issues, resolving them through prevention or cure. Every project brings its own mix: sound isolation, sound quality, vibration or environmental noise. We begin by fully integrating with the design team, generally from early schematic design through completion and move-in.
Our strength is in the solutions we develop and our ability to see them through. We don’t just issue reports, we get involved, and we stay with the project through construction.
Many common noise issues can be avoided through space planning alone, so we review preliminary layouts during concept and schematic design, before adjacencies become expensive to change. During design we provide engineered acoustic and noise control solutions, review material selections and support the value engineering process. Someone who knows the project is always available to answer questions.
Independent
Most problems can be solved with standard, non-proprietary building materials, so that is always our first approach. It keeps cost down while maintaining performance.
We do not sell, sponsor or promote any product or manufacturer. When a project calls for a specific product, we specify it on performance, design and budget.
Sustainability
We aim to pursue sustainable design and green building strategies on every project, though formal certification isn’t always the goal. Often, criteria from LEED and other rating systems are folded into the design as good practice rather than for certification itself.
We’re versed in LEED, WELL, Green Star, Green Globe, BREEAM, China Three Star and GRIHA, and make every effort to include these standards in our acoustic and noise control design. We review material submittals for compliance and write specifications that support green product selection.
